Can we figure out where another class is located by asking 10 Yes/No answer questions? That is the mission set before us in a Mystery Skype. Each class takes turns asking questions that can be answered with either yes or no and by putting together those answers with the visual and audio clues we try to figure out who our Skyping visitor is. Students are divided into various groups that are responsible for Introducing and concluding the Skype session, Asking the questions, Answering the questions, Researching the information and a Communication team that keeps each group informed. With each new Mystery Skype the jobs rotate through the groups so that all students get a chance to try a role.

For this Skype we were privileged to be communicating with a grade 6 class from Iqaluit, Nunavut. We will continue working with this class periodically throughout the year as we compare our communities. We will be preparing a paper version of our Community project that we will send to them to share what Burford is like. They too will send us an album of life in Iqaluit for us to examine and use for comparison purposes.
